PICTURE THIS (PATENT PENDING) is the age old card matching game brought back electronically with a modern day social media twist. It uses personalized photos to share one's life with family and friends. The ability to communicate using voice to text during game play enhances the experience even further. Whether playing alone or competing with others, seeing treasured memories through photos becomes a whole new experience all while also exercising one's mind and memory! No personal data is collected, stored or shared. Card backs can be personalized to an individual or can be used as an advertisement for a business, company, or product.
Because the game is so customizable relative to “difficulty” (controlled by the number of cards and speed of the action), “personalization” (by way of what is displayed on the face of the cards to be matched), and “customization” (by way of back side of the card being personal or advertisement) it has almost unlimited applications for both players and environments. Here are a few examples:
CHILDREN: Parents can put educational photos on the cards that can teach geography, math, spelling, social studies, history, politics, and more.
TEENAGERS: Young people can put their interests, adventures, hobbies, etc. captured in their photos and send them to their friend(s) in a game form and make it challenging by associating a caption with every photo. In addition, voice to text communication is available during game play. There are no ads that can take players to unsavory websites.
COUPLES: Two people though in a close relationship sometimes can better communicate via their photos and the photos related captions regardless of the physical distance between them. To make a game even more personal, they can customize the back of the card so as to make the game a “gift” from one to the other. For example: a spouse serving in the military abroad could receive a game gift from their spouse living here (US) showing their week in picture game form and be able to text communicate during the game.
PARENTS: When the nest is becoming empty or is empty with children off to college or out-of-state jobs, the game can be a means to share their experiences in a fun way through their shared photos in the game.
SENIORS: As we age, memory declines. The game can be a means to relive memories through a photo fun game whether playing alone or with family regardless of where they live. By combining photos and identifying the correct corresponding captions, the game combines the use of both short-term and long-term memory in the same exercise. Using current photos or photos from the past can be a great way to re-trigger memories from earlier in life.
STRANGERS: Created games can be made “private” or “public”. If creating a public game, joiners will be based on the location of the creator. If public but “limited to players near me” (within a 1000 feet of each other), two complete strangers can and play a game which just might be the needed thing to “break the ice” for communication and friendship.
Because the game can also be played on a laptop (by going to “PictureThisGames.com” and logging in) that is connected to a large display the game can be used in a party “public” setting such as graduation parties, wedding/baby shower parties, holiday parties, company parties, bars, restaurants, country clubs, waiting rooms and more. In this case, the game name is displayed and people who have downloaded the app can join the game by searching for the “game name”. Consider the fun on trivia night when the participants can bring their own trivia to the party. In this case, the establishment could advertise themselves on the back of the card via the game’s customization card back capabilities. Or a graduation party where the graduate is on the back of the card via card back customization, and his/her growth through the years becomes the photo choices on the face of the cards.
